Karmic Kit

Karmic Kit - The Nerve Centre of a BLOG!
Despite this blog's name, I haven't run Karmic Koala for a while! In fact, my adventures with Ubuntu didn't even start with 9.10 - my first distro was 8.04 LTS (Hardy Heron), loaded on my DELL Dimension 8400 way back in September 2008. Nonetheless, it was the Karmic release that really got me hooked on open-source and provided the inspiration for the blog's rather cryptic title.

Doubtless, it won't take long for visitors to realize that I'm not a Linux expert and sharing my (limited) expertise isn't really the point of this blog: this is just a way for me to document the journey. However, I hope that at least some of what I've posted here might prove useful to others or, perhaps, serve to placate the wary and encourage the curious to take the plunge and experiment with Ubuntu (or, for that matter, any other open source distro).

The following information has not been included in some vain attempt to impress visitors (not that it is likely to!) - quite the opposite: I'm constantly amazed at how well Ubuntu runs on older equipment. Whilst it is true that I've had to upgrade the DELL Dimension 8400 to keep pace with the changes in technology, I've had no trouble running the latest releases on my laptops with graphics performances of a quality to make Bill Gates weep!

Feel free to comment if you feel so inclined and, in the spirit of the open-source community, you are welcome to link, copy, disseminate, or share any information you find here for personal or educational purposes.
